My Boiler Is Showing A Vaillant F28 Fault – What’s Gone Wrong?
It’s funny how we don’t tend to pay much attention to our boiler until something goes wrong! Everyday that dear boiler of ours works to keep our home warm and cosy. All we have to do is flick on a switch and it’s our boiler that does the rest! It’s not just the lovely warm radiators and air temperature that we’re talking about, think of all those long hot soaks in the bath, or revitalizing showers after a long day at the office. Indeed we have a lot to thank our boiler for.
In saying that, since you’re currently reading this, you may not be feeling in too much of a grateful mood towards your boiler at this moment in time! You’ve come home to a cold house with no hot water and no heating. On checking your boiler, he’s flashing an ugly Vaillant F28 error code at you. What’s happened?
Often this error code is related to a gas supply or ignition issue. The ignition may still be working perfectly well, yet it doesn’t seem to be receiving any gas. You may have even check the other appliances in your home only to find that gas is reaching them without a problem. Clearly the boiler isn’t happy!
Of course you’re best option in such a situation is to call a boiler repair service to come and take a look at the problem. If, on the other hand, you’re determined to give it a go yourself first, there are a few things that may help you get rid of that ugly Vaillant F28 error code!
For example. if you had to turn your gas supply to the boiler off at any point in the recent past, there may simply be air in the pipework. If this is the case, you’re boiler isn’t going to want to work until the air has gone. One way of possibly pushing the air through the system is to repeatedly re-light the boiler.
Unfortunately the Vaillant F28 error code may be alerting you to a more serious problem, perhaps the electrode has been damaged and needs to be replaced? Or there may be a problem with the ignition lead? If it doesn’t seem like an initial easy DIY fix, it’s likely better to call the agency. A specialist can often identify and fix a problem in minutes, while we can agonize over the matter for hours without making the tiniest amount of headway!
